Management Trainee Intern

May - August 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

I loved how Enterprise trusted interns with tasks and assignments right from the start. I felt like my work was being valued and I was a true member of the team. Going to work each day was fun because of the great people I got to work with each day in the office. I learned about sales, marketing, management, and customer service all in one internship. Enterprise Holdings will invest a lot of time and energy into your development.

What I wish was different

I wanted to see more of the financial side of how the branch was doing. I wanted to see why decisions were being made based on the data that was gathered.

Advice

Don't think that Enterprise Holdings is only a rental car company. You will quickly learn that there are a lot of different avenues that you can take within the company and have a strong ability to succeed in the Management Trainee Program. Take a chance on this great company, and you will see it was worth the investment.

Management Trainee Intern

June - August 2019 • San Bruno, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed a business model that encouraged employees to handle situations independently and take on responsibilities normally expected of a manager.

What I wish was different

The one thing I wish had been different was the actual location of my internship. The venue was not the most beneficial for the business model.

Advice

I would seriously take advantage of the opportunity because it makes you think differently and feel more influential with your decision making.

Sales Intern

May - August 2019 • Hilliard, OH

What I liked

I enjoyed how I was a part of the team. I expected as an Intern to be doing more behind the scenes work but I was working with all the full-time employees. All the employees were very open to answering any questions that I had and wanted to see me succeed. The manager continually took me aside to make sure I was enjoying my summer and offer any additional training on areas where I was struggling. There were also a lot of outside of work get togethers which was a nice way to get to know the people I was working with outside of the office. There were also a lot of trainings with the other interns that gave us an overview of the business as a whole. I really enjoyed meeting people who have been well established in the company such as area mangers, branch mangers, and other higher-ups in the company to help build connections.

What I wish was different

There was not a lot I would change about this internship because they understand I was a student and gave shorter work days from 8-5 rather than the usual 7-6/7 shifts. As an intern I also didn't have to work on weekends because they wanted us to enjoy our summers.

Advice

Don't be afriad to ask questions and get involved as possible from the start. Everyone I worked witth was extremly helpful throughout the summer and I am still in contact with some of the people I worked with including the branch manager and some of the interns I worked with.

Management Trainee Intern

May - September 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I loved that I was treated like a real employee. They really invested their time and into training. We knew what we were talking about. You get a "Branch Buddy" and I loved mine! My branch buddy was the Assistant Branch Manager and I learned so much from him. Upper Management is also so hands on! We knew the Regional Vice President, he was so kind and friendly and was an available resource! My Area Manager was amazing too! (This is the person who is responsible for a group of Branches in one area) He was always available to answer questions and was hands on in the branch. He would do the same job I was doing; helping a customer, answering a phone, helping to clean a car. He would help us, it didn't matter that he was upper management. My Branch Manager was BEYOND amazing! I still keep in touch with him. In this job, you meet so many different people. I loved my summer internship. ENTERPRISE INVESTS IN THEIR EMPLOYEES!!!

What I wish was different

Nothing! I liked the whole experience. There are long hours, but they flew by.

Advice

Don't be afraid to have some fun! My branch had some truly amazing workers and we would joke around with each other during down time (when there weren't customers in the branch). It was truly an amazing experience!

Software Engineering Intern

May - July 2018 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

Enterprise Holdings is an amazing company to work for. The culture and atmosphere of the work place is extremely supportive, genuine and energetic. The team I was placed with for the summer was super helpful and encouraged us to ask questions and push ourselves to learn more throughout our ten week internship.

What I wish was different

Not much really. The Talent Acquisition team who ran the Internship experience was very prepared to have interns for the summer and planned countless activities and opportunities for us to network and grow our career at Enterprise.

Advice

Be open to learning and network! I had the opportunity to shadow a lot of different teams and meet so many different people throughout my experience and this also helped me learn more about what I would like to do after college.

What I liked

Working at Enterprise is the essence of a professional business atmosphere. They give you the tools to be your own manager and provide you with an excellent structure as well to follow by as one of the largest car rental corporations in the world. In the customer service universe it was excellent in learning the professional relationships between me and the customer. Sales experience went hand in hand with the service we provide and countless important lessons were learned in my experience in rental.

What I wish was different

The hours are quite long starting at 50 hour a week minimum for full time employees.

Advice

Go ahead and go apply to Enterprise If you want a customer service experience like no other. There are a ton of sales knowledge and experiences gained from a customer service representative position. If you enjoy talking to people and driving nice cars, it’s for you! Did I mention the dress is business professional? It helps in terms of maintaining a specific image.

What I liked

The work environment was very positive. Enterprise strives to go above and beyond to give customers and employees the best experience possible.

What I wish was different

I wish I had had slightly more sales training. A large portion of this job was trying to generate more revenue for the company through upgrades and up-sells, and I would have benefitted from learning more about the best tactics to do so.

Advice

If this opportunity presents itself to you, take it! You will gain wonderful customer service experience, sales experience, and be able to have a very highly-regarded company on your resume.

Management Trainee Intern

May - August 2019 • Wayne, NJ

What I liked

I liked the quick pace and fast work days despite long hours. I learned a lot about business operations and new car models. I liked the fact that a career path was available to me at Enterprise. I liked the fact that I can put on my resume that I worked for a multi-billion dollar company before I graduated college.

What I wish was different

I wish that I did not have to deal with the general public so much, but I understand that it is pretty unavoidable. I wish I made commission on my insurance sales as an intern. I wish there was more flexibility with the hours. I wish the dynamic among my coworkers was more welcoming.

Advice

If you can handle the high stress level that is seemingly unending during the work day, as well as long work weeks, then go for it. If you do not handle stress well, you will burn out immediately.

Management Trainee Intern

May - August 2017 • Portsmouth, NH

What I liked

The pace. Employees at every level are always moving around, which was exciting and made the days go by quickly. Plus everyone has been in your shoes before, either as an intern or a management trainee, so it's very easy to talk to managers at any level.

What I wish was different

They really throw you right into the rental life, which can be pretty intimidating, especially at a branch as busy as Portsmouth. The hours can be long, and wearing a suit in hot weather can exhaust you.

Advice

Be prepared to jump right in on day one, and don't sweat the long hours. Always push a sale, but be respectful of people's wishes - customer satisfaction is more important for your branch than additional revenue.

Creative Writing Intern

May 2017 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

I was allowed a lot of creative freedom in the internship. My managers set guidelines and expectations for me, but I was able to create the content that I thought would be best for the blog that I was working on. I also had the opportunity to work from home--it requires a lot of discipline, but it is also very convenient.

What I wish was different

I wished there had been more interns at the location where I interned--I did go into the office once a week and there was another Creative Writing Intern but I didn't get the traditional intern experience where you get to meet a lot of other interns that are the same age as you and go through a specific program.

Advice

From the beginning, work hard to impress your boss/manager. I know that seems obvious, but it is easy to get relaxed once you become more comfortable in your work environment. You never know what opportunities you will have based on the work you put in. I was hired on permanently with the company; my managers created a part-time position for me and are working with me while I am still in school. It was a wonderful opportunity and they appreciated and recognized my hard work. Even if you think you are putting in all that you can, think of ways to challenge yourself and really put your best foot forward.
