Practice Interview: City Year

Get Practice Interview Experience with Guest Employer: Ms. Donna Pham, Regional Recruitment Manager, West Region, City Year.

The UO Career Center's Practice Interview Program is a safe place to practice interview skills, gain confidence and receive interview feedback from an experienced hiring professional. Guest employers volunteer their time to interview students and provide them with immediate feedback on their interviewing skills. Interviews are 30 minutes in length: 20 minutes for the interview and 10 minutes for immediate feedback from the interviewer. Students will not be interviewing for a specific position but should be prepared to respond to general behavior interview questions.

Why Sign-up For a Practice Interview?
• Knowing what to expect and how to prepare will lead to successful future interviews. Success begins with preparation.
• You will receive immediate verbal and written interview feedback from our guest employer and provided a Practice Interview evaluation form to take with you.

The goal of a successful interview is to be the candidate of choice. How do you accomplish this during an interview?

• Communicate "evidence" of your ability to do the job
• Strategically highlight experiences, skills, and knowledge related to the job

ABOUT CITY YEAR
City Year was founded in 1988 on the belief that young people can change the world. City Year is an education-focused, nonprofit organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service aimed at keeping students in school and on track to graduation. At City Year’s 29 urban locations across the U.S. and two international affiliates, teams of trained young people called AmeriCorps members serve full-time in schools during the academic year as student success coaches- tutoring, mentoring and engaging as role models. By focusing on attendance, social-emotional learning and course performance, which identify students who are at risk of not graduating on time, AmeriCorps members are positioned to help students and schools succeed. Positions we hire UO students for: City Year Corps Members. More info: https://www.cityyear.org/

The Practice Interview Program is part of the On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) Program. Not showing up for a scheduled practice interview is unprofessional and guarantees disqualification from Duck Connect privileges.
