This position sits within the Italian sector of the Department of Romance Languages, in the School of Global Studies and Languages.
Purpose of Position:
Prof. Eleanor Paynter seeks an undergraduate Research Assistant. Hours are occasional and variable, with a minimum of 2 hr/week. The Research Assistant will aid in the preparation of materials for an archive. Duties may include interview transcription, translation of texts, scanning and describing materials, cataloguing for the archive, and researching as needed to support these tasks. The area of focus is contemporary Mediterranean migration and migrant reception in the Italian context.
Duties:
- Attention to detail and care for sensitive information;
- Use of Microsoft Word;
- Comfortable working independently
Position Specifics:
- Knowledge of Italian language
- Interest in issues related to migration and human rights
- Experience in or willingness to learn about archival work, interview transcription, and translation
